Jim Goren has over 27 years of experience in portfolio management, finance, accounting and corporate strategy.
Jim co-founded DaVinci and specializes in origination, due diligence, structuring, valuation and monitoring of investments in real estate, private equity and private debt. He also advises on opportunities in technology and materials
Prior to Davinci, Jim was a partner at Marconi Ventures Fund and CFO in a number of entities in technology and telecommunications.
Jim earned an MBA degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University and is a Chartered General Accountant as well as a CFA charterholder and member of the CFA Institute of Financial Analysts.
Mark Irwin is a founding principal at DaVinci Capital Partners, as well as being a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager. He has 27 years of experience performing research and financial analysis, and providing strategic guidance on structuring portfolios.
Since 2000, Mark has been a leader in the sourcing, researching and analyzing of alternative investment strategies, primarily in the areas of real estate, private debt and private equity, as well as other niche strategies in Canada and the U.S.
Mark received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Queen’s University. In 2000, he became a Chartered Financial Analyst, and is a member of the CFA Institute.
Bill Hallman joined DaVinci in 2011 and has spent the past 9 years working as a Portfolio Manager. He brings over 25 years of active wealth management experience to the firm’s Investment Committee. At DaVinci, he specializes in Large Cap North American Equities, and is lead manager in the public equities space.
Prior to joining DaVinci, Bill worked on both the buy side and sell side of Bay Street as an equity and fixed income analyst at McDonald Investment Management. He has travelled through North America and Europe visiting and meeting with various management teams. Bill also spent 8 years at an IDA brokerage firm as a Branch Manager and Investment Advisor, servicing individual clients and managing the branch’s compliance.
Bill obtained his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1994 and holds diplomas in accounting and securities administration. He has completed the Commodity Futures Trading Course, the Canadian Securities Course, the Branch Managers Course and the Partners, Directors and Officers exams.
Chiren joined DaVinci in 2023. He is responsible for the active monitoring of DaVinci Capital’s pooled funds, through initiating and maintaining financial models on each of the firm investments.
Chiren has been in the Financial Services industry for 4 years, at the audit level, previously working for KPMG in Toronto, and Ernst and Young in India. He is currently a CFA candidate and has completed CFA Level II.
David has been active in the investment and insurance planning field since 2001, working specifically with established entrepreneurs and legal professionals. A lifelong student of the financial services field, David recently obtained his Chartered Life Underwriter designation with emphasis on tax, estate, and insurance planning. David’s clients benefit from unique planning models and strategies that enhance financial protection and secure long-term wealth and retirement income. Integrating DaVinci’s focus on risk management and true diversification has played a key role in the financial success of David’s clients, with many entrusting DaVinci for their household and corporate assets for over 15 years.
In addition to serving his own clients, David is now a strategic partner to DaVinci working with independent investment and insurance advisors as they seek next-level portfolio management solutions for their clients and their practices. Understanding firsthand the value DaVinci delivers to clients, David’s mission is to expand DaVinci’s reach into the planning industry.
Yevette is the firm’s primary administrator, and office manager. She joined the firm in August 2021. She has over 22 years of experience in portfolio administration, finance and client services. She has worked primarily for asset managers in the financial services industry.
Matt is a member of the Davinci Large Cap Equity investment committee. Matt has spent 21 years as founder and President of FSA Valuation Service Ltd, developing proprietary metrics, valuation methods and software used to analyze public equities. FSA provides research reports, model portfolios, software, and consulting to portfolio management firms.
Prior to founding FSA Valuation Service Inc., Matt was a consultant at Deloitte Consulting where he advised large and mid-size companies on matters of finance including, re-engineering systems and functions, activity-based costing, valued based management, strategic divestitures, and mergers & acquisitions.
